Got to hitch a ride with Jeff, Chris and Wayne to try some offshore floundering. Some good reports were coming in that they were biting good when you could get out.
We left Rock Landing around nine AM in 2-4' seas, some clouds and happy I had my rain gear and gloves on.
We arrived about 45 minutes later fishing 65' water near K tower. Winter had cleaned up the water and you could see your rig go down to about 20' deep.
The bite started out strong, I hooked up on 8 flounder up to 17" in size with a dropper rig and a 3 oz. buck tail jig, tipped with pearl white gulp shrimp and sweetened further with a bubble gum fish bite.
The bigger fish liked the buck tail.
This is the biggest flattie that ate the jig. That is a large jig!
The bite slowed as the morning progressed and we hit some rock bass holes on the way in. Some hit the ice in the cooler, but the big rockies were not to be found.
Hmmm, I'm thinking flounder stuffed with crab from Mineral Springs Fish House is gonna be on the menu this week!
